Is there a soulmate for everyone?

"Who doesn't long for someone to hold, who knows how lot love you without being cold? Somebody tell me, why I'm on my own, if there's a soulmate for everyone …" Natasha Bedingfield sings about the question so many of us ask deep inside: Where is my soulmate, my big love, the person I would die for? The dream that one person can fulfil the roles of the one and only, best friend, great lover, and the perfect human counterpart, will live as long as human beings exist on earth. But what does the idea of the soulmate mean to us? Do we believe such a person will pass our way and we will recognize him or her at once? And is there a soulmate for everyone?

How to get to know your soulmate?

These questions are not easy to answer. The answers depend on our point of view. Some people long for such a person but wait passively. They might think that one day a soulmate will stand in front of them and never leave again. Others do not think about or search for a soulmate at all because they do not need one or do not believe in the possibility of the existence of soulmates. Perhaps there is a middle course between these two extremes. What if there is not only one soulmate in your life? And, even better, imagine you already know your soulmate but have not yet figured out who it might be?

A soulmate might be around already

Let us assume that people do not recognize their soulmates because they do not take the time to get to know each other well enough. People go around in circles and think more about themselves than about others. Consequently, they never recognize that someone nearby might already be their real soulmate. Therefore, keep your eyes open and take your time to get to know people well. Something might be hidden inside an acquaintance you have not noticed yet.
