One might think that having a long-term relationship is not easy. On the contrary: To find a good base it is much easier to have a permanent relationship than changing partners every month. Imagine: You do not need to find out over and over again what your partner likes and how he or she thinks. You know how to make him happy and satisfied. Both of you can live in harmony and happiness without those stressing fights which happen in the beginning of short relationships just because of misunderstandings.

How to find a long-term relationship

Begin by simply being friends with the person you are seeking a relationship with. This stage allows you to learn more about your partner, as well as to confirm your feelings towards a relationship with him or her. Going off the basis that a good long term relationship is based around love, we can look into how love is defined. There are some different aspects of love. Three basic components make up true love. These are intimacy, passion and commitment. The intimacy portion of love is that of friends; you enjoy spending time together. The passion aspect is necessary in a relationship, but if you rush head-first into passion without considering the needs of a very close friend, somebody is going to end up hurt. The final, and equally important, aspect is that of commitment. The long-term commitment is the choice to remain with a person permanently. When all three aspects are fulfilled, real love is attained.

Now that you fully understand what love is, you can make your own assumptions as to what you need to do. While every aspect does not need to be instantly attained usually all need to be present in order to maintain a healthy long-term relationship. Start in a relaxed way and do not think that everything has to be perfect from the first day on. One should not forget that a good relationship also live from discussions and arguments from time to time.
